Job summary

Alpha Public Schools in East San José seeks a Math Instructional Specialist to lead math instruction across grades 3–8. You will implement curricula, coach teachers, analyze student data, and collaborate with leaders and families to drive equity and growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and valid Clear California teaching credential (Single Subject: Math).
  • Minimum five years of teaching experience in math.
  • Experience coaching instructional staff and teachers in math interventions.
  • Commitment to serving historically underserved communities (80% of students from under-resourced backgrounds).

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans and supplementary materials to teach standards based math curricula for half the school day, 2–3 courses per week based on student needs.
  • Demonstrate exemplary, research-based math instruction through modeling, coaching, collaborative lesson planning, and co-teaching.
  • Co-teach math lessons and model instructional best practices for classroom teachers.
  • Support development of Math Academic Interventionists in small group instruction, data analysis, and best practices for math interventions in partnership with school leaders.
  • Collaborate with school leaders to refine pacing plans and create formative and summative assessments.
  • Plan and facilitate professional learning aligned to key math priorities.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with staff, families, and the Alpha community.
  • Participate in regular and on-going professional development, observations, and feedback sessions.
