Contract Role Title: Blueprint Schools Network - Consultant

Role: Math Instructional Coach

Position Type: Contract; Not Benefits Eligible

Location: Oakland, CA

Posting Date: April 2025, recruiting consultants for School Year 25-26

Contract Fee: $45 to 50 per Hour; fee placement within range will be based upon professional and academic experience as it relates to the required qualifications of this contract position.

Overview:

Blueprint Schools Network is pleased to partner with Oakland Reach and Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) in support of OUSD’s MathBOOST program. Blueprint is recruiting for the consultant/contract-based role of Instructional Coach. This role will provide observation and coaching support and facilitate group professional development to Math Liberators in the Oakland Unified School District's (OUSD) MathBOOST program. The consultant will be responsible for observing coaching sessions, providing feedback, facilitating group professional development and collaborating with stakeholders to support the effective implementation of the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly coaching to Math Liberators, with activities for each coaching session lasting up to 90 minutes total (to include):
    • Conduct in-person observations at a designated OUSD school campus of Math Liberators for 30 to 45 minutes per session.
    • Conduct remote and in-person planning and debrief sessions with Math Liberators, lasting 30 to 45 minutes each.
  • Prepare and facilitate group professional development to Math Liberators (up to 4 hours total, to include):
    • Planning for group professional development, preparing slide deck by leveraging Blueprint Schools Network group professional development existing content and facilitating professional development session(s).
  • Attend in-person meetings with Blueprint/OUSD/Reach stakeholders as needed (effort is made to schedule meetings on same days as in-person observations).
  • Collaborate with the Director of the Math Fellows Program and OUSD/Reach stakeholders to coordinate schedules and activities.
  • Adapt to schedule changes as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 or more years of classroom teaching experience. Prior experience teaching math preferred.
  • Proficiency for math at elementary level; familiarity with math education and instructional strategies.
  • Experience in providing coaching or instructional support to educators (in one/one and group settings).
  • Experience facilitating professional development to adults.
  • Familiarity with Oakland, California schools and community.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to observe and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
  • English proficiency (Spanish preferred).

Terms of Service:

If selected:

  • The consultant will be engaged as an independent contractor.
  • The terms of service, scope of work, and compensation will be outlined in a consulting agreement.
  • Training will be provided by Blueprint’s Program Team, to include initial shadowing of observation and coaching session(s).
