Job summary

Cal State LA is seeking a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Mathematics to support the Math Gym and tutor students. The position is open until filled with specified Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 terms and up to 20 hours per week.

The candidate must be a degree-seeking graduate student in Mathematics, enrolled or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate program, and able to work with diverse groups while supporting faculty, staff, and students.

Qualifications

• Degree-seeking graduate student in the Department of Mathematics.
• Graduate Assistant must be currently enrolled in or admitted to a Cal State LA graduate degree program.
• Enrollment in course(s) for the semester towards the degree.
• Ability to relate well with others within the academic environment and have the ability or potential to learn how to instruct and evaluate students.
• Demonstrate commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional non-teaching assistance to the Math Gym coordinator.
• Tutor students at the Math Gym.
