A healthcare provider in Scarborough seeks a Maternity Assistant to play an essential role in supporting women and families throughout their maternity journey. Qualifications

Maternity Assistant

As a Maternity Assistant you'll play an essential role in supporting women, birthing individuals, and their families throughout their maternity journey. Working closely with midwives and the wider healthcare team, you'll help provide safe, compassionate, and holistic care across antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and community settings.

You'll bring empathy, reliability, and a genuine passion for making a difference for women and their families. We\'ll provide the training and support you need to grow your skills and confidence, while you help us deliver the highest standard of woman-centred care.

Main duties of the job

The Maternity Assistant works under the close supervision of a registered Midwife to support the smooth running of maternity services across all areas. This includes general housekeeping and assisting women and their newborn infants.

Qualifications and skills
  • Completion of the Skills for Health Care Certificate upon commencing employment (or equivalent)
  • Numeracy/literacy skills to level 1 (GCSE grade D-F/2-3 or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic IT skills. able to digitally record observations accurately and use applications such as email on a computer or smart device (e.g. tablet)
  • Numeracy/literacy skills to level 2 (GCSE A-C/4-9 or equivalent)
Experience and knowledge
  • 1 years previous experience in a Health Care Support Worker role (or equivalent)
  • Ability to communicate health-related information
  • Willingness to undertake further maternity training packages
