Job summary

Avera Maternal Fetal Medicine Sioux Falls is seeking a Sonography professional to perform ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians. You will explain procedures to patients, position them, and operate ultrasound equipment to obtain clear images for review by the obstetric team.

Responsibilities include documenting tests, assisting with procedures such as amniocentesis, participating in quality improvement, and training staff and students.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or radiology certificate required.
• RDMS OB/GYN certification within 1 year.
• 1–3 years ultrasound experience in OB/GYN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasonic diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians.
• Explains procedures to patients to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
• Positions patients and selects appropriate transducer.
• Conducts scanning procedures using ultrasound equipment and moves scanner to focus.
• Makes hard copy images and documents tests.
• Assists physician in procedures such as amniocentesis.
• Participates in quality assessment and improvement plans.
• Assists staff and students with on-the-job training and orientation.
• Enters data into report system and monitors inventory of supplies.
