Job summary

SKF Aerospace in Falconer, NY is seeking a Materials Testing Lab Technician to perform material analyses including hardness, grain size, and residual stress measurements, supporting lab efficiency improvements and data recording. You will help maintain samples and records, and ensure accuracy in testing.

The ideal candidate has an Associate Degree or equivalent technical experience and 2–3 years in engineering or manufacturing, with a demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Two to three years of experience in engineering or a manufacturing environment.

  • Perform cleanliness rating, carbide rating, grain size rating, retained austenite measurement, residual stress measurement, hardness measurement, and macro/micro etching.
  • Program computers for lab efficiency improvements; use MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visual Basic.
  • Maintain lab cleanliness, reorder supplies, and maintain lab samples and records.

Key Responsibilities:

The analysis includes, but is not limited to:

  • Cleanliness rating, carbide rating, grain size rating, retained austenite measurement, residual stress measurement, hardness measurement, and macro and micro etch.
  • Computer programming as it pertains to lab efficiency improvements, skills in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Visual Basic.
  • Maintaining lab cleanliness, reordering supplies, and maintaining lab samples and lab records.

Job Requirements:

  • The position requires a minimum of an Associate Degree or equivalent experience in a technical field. Courses in chemistry, metallurgy, and Heat Treatment are preferred.
  • Two to three (3) years of experience in engineering or a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have the ability to work as part of a team.
