Job summary

Tenneco Litchfield is seeking a Lead Person for the Material Stores to coordinate parts flow and support the production line. You will oversee daily inventory, assign tasks, and ensure standardized work is followed while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.

The role requires hands-on ability, strong organization, and the capacity to work with SAP/EPIC systems, with emphasis on safety and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.

• Communicate issues to manufacturing supervisors and Materials Supervisor.
• Coordination of job assignments based on production needs and/or attendance concerns.
• Coordinate with production Team Leaders.
• Create a Culture of Accountability with Team Members
• Reads visual monitor or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, shelves, and trucks by hand when necessary.
• Successfully conveys materials to and from storage or work sites to designated areas both physically and in SAP and EPIC.
• Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on containers.
• Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.
• Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist and cleans work area.
• Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
• Stage materials for specific production cells and deliver that material as needed.
• Responsible for the accuracy of the inventory on their assigned area.
• Mandatory for all physical inventories.
• Promotion of Safety within the stores and primary contact to ensure proper reaction to and reporting of injury and/or illness.
• Development and monitoring of rotation schedule.
• Provide first response to line problems. Document problems, resolve when possible and follow-up with appropriate resource or group to ensure problem is corrected.
• Facilitation of efficient meetings to foster continuous improvement and communication.
• Monitoring and Maintenance of 5S in the work place.
• Provides daily update on operations to Supervisor.
• Perform daily inventory counts for department.
• Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Material Handlers start at $26.74 per hour + $0.75 per hour shift premium. Additional pay increases at 6 months and 1 year of employment.

Tenneco Litchfield is a manufacturing facility belonging to the Clean Air division of Tenneco. Our primarily focus is producing full exhaust systems and related components for OEM's (Automotive Plants)and aftermarket parts. Our major customers are General Motors, Ford, Toyota, VW, Nissan, and many aftermarket vehicle replacement parts. We have 3 departments known as Canning, Bending and Final assembly. Canning is the production zone where catalytic converters and different filters are assembled and sealed inside their metal outer shells. Our bending department is responsible for shaping straight metal in complex, curved shapes to fit under the vehicle, and tail pipes. Final assembly at the end of the shop is where, bent pipe, stuffed cans, hangers and flanges are all welded together to make a vehicle ready exhaust system.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinating activities within materials stores. A member of the work team with cross-functional responsibilities provides support to assigned team assuring accurate locating of parts to meet the production line's needs. Assures that standardized work is in place and followed. Serves as a facilitator to the work team in areas of problem solving, issue resolution, continuous improvement and training. This position is a working part of the material store and must also be able to perform all the jobs on the team.
