Internship Purpose

The purpose of this internship at Woodward is to provide students with exposure and "real life" business acumen within the Aerospace and Energy Industry, practical experience, and the opportunity to work on challenging projects, network with professionals, and potentially secure full‑time employment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Operate and set up tribometers and materials prep equipment.
• Compile, interpret, and report data generated from tribometers.
• Use MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to complete tasks.
• Interact effectively with team members, share opinions, and ask questions related to work and studies.
• Work independently on assigned tasks with supervisory oversight.
• Recognize problems beyond the intern’s capabilities and seek guidance.
• Coordinate tasks with other departments to meet schedules.
• Maintain good attendance and perform related duties as assigned.
• Present a year‑end presentation of the internship experience.
• Report GPA status to supervisor on a quarterly/semester basis.
• Create work instructions for operating tribometers.
• Increase tribology throughput by 25%.
• Produce reports for key tribology projects.

• May rotate assignments to gain additional business experience.

Education or Formal Training

• Standard hand tools and measuring devices
• Standard office equipment (copiers, fax machines, etc.)

Working Environment & Physical Activities

The intern works in a normal office environment and may, depending on location or assignment, visit plant areas with exposure to noise, chemical solutions, dust, and varying temperatures.
