Job summary

Pelican Products, Inc. in South Deerfield, MA is seeking a Materials Specialist to ensure assembly areas have prints, components and supplies, manage work orders, and maintain efficient material flow.

You will print drawings, deliver kits to workstations, replenish Kan Ban buckets, and coordinate with tool crib and shipping teams to minimize delays. The role emphasizes strict safety adherence, the ability to operate machine controls, and following verbal or written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure assembly areas have all needed prints, components and supplies to maintain flow of product.
  • View current work orders for status and print new orders as needed.
  • Print related drawings as specified on the work order.
  • Identify and deliver appropriate kits to workstations and fill point of use bowls.
  • Retrieve or replace items from tool crib or dispatch to eliminate indirect work.
  • Deliver empty Kan Ban buckets to the machine shop for replenishment.
  • Make gaskets as needed.
  • Transact finished product and deliver to shipping.
  • Notify dispatch or appropriate party of shortages or excess parts.
  • Call QA for inspection or consultation as required.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Do:
  • Perform a variety of routine duties to ensure that assembly areas have all needed prints, components and supplies to safely and efficiently maintain the flow of product.
  • View all current work orders for their status and print new orders as needed.
  • Print all related drawings as specified on the work order.
  • Identify and deliver appropriate kits to the workstations and fill point of use bowls as needed.
  • Retrieve or replace all items needed from the tool crib or dispatch center to eliminate indirect work for the assemblers.
  • Deliver empty Kan Ban buckets to the machine shop for replenishment.
  • Make gaskets as needed.
  • Transact finished product and deliver to shipping.

  • Call QA for inspection or consultation as required.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

What You May Be Doing:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits:

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across severalU.S. geographic markets. Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range.
