Job summary

RxSight, an ophthalmic medical technology company based in Aliso Viejo, California, seeks a Materials Scientist to translate materials and prototype processes into robust production methods. You will lead development from feasibility to manufacturing transfer, focusing on silicone- and acrylic-based systems.

You will design experiments, analyze process variability, build mechanistic models, and collaborate across Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory teams to improve product

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MS in Materials Science and Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience with polymeric or soft-material systems is strongly preferred.
• Experience with transfer of processes from development to manufacturing is desirable.
• Experience with silicone, acrylic, ophthalmic, or medical-device materials is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead development activities from feasibility through process development and manufacturing transfer.
• Develop understanding of material–process interactions and product performance.
• Design and execute experiments to improve process robustness and reduce variability.
• Investigate sources of variation using root-cause analysis.
• Develop mechanistic models and data-driven hypotheses to explain process behavior.
• Apply DOE and data analysis to identify key process drivers and optimize performance.
• Characterize curing, molding, and processing for silicone- and acrylic-based materials.
• Support process transfer and scale-up for manufacturing.
