Penn State is seeking a Materials Research and Development Engineer to join the ARL's AMME Division in State College, PA. You will support research activities, design and fabricate advanced polymers and composites, and perform characterization and testing for defense and industrial applications.
Ideal candidates have a strong background in polymer science, materials testing, and project engineering, with DoD context; ARL is a DoD SkillBridge partner and on-site work is required.
We are searching for a motivated Materials Research and Development Engineer to join the Polymer Composite Manufacturing Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. We specialize in developing innovative and affordable technology solutions than can be implemented and sustained by our customers. This role will support various research activities throughout the Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Engineering (AMME) Division including manufacturing, characterization, and design of polymers and fiber-reinforced polymer composites, elastomers, ceramic matrix composites, and/or multi-material structures.

Your working location will be fully on-site located in State College, PA. This role requires periodic travel to remote locations.

ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).
Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $121,704.00 - $265,704.00.
