Job summary

Amrize is seeking a Quality Control Technician in Elburn, IL. The role involves lab and field sampling, ensuring materials meet state, project and customer specs, and maintaining quality control documentation.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of related experience, with preferred QC lab technician background and relevant certifications. The position includes a strong safety culture, diverse plant exposures, and opportunities to support multiple sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of related work experience.
• Preferred: ≥2 years as materials QC Lab Technician.
• Illinois DOT Aggregate Technician Certificate or ability to obtain within 3 months.
• MSHA certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Willing to work flexible hours, including some nights/weekends.
• Able to lift 50 lbs over uneven ground for 300 ft.
• Must adhere to safety protocols and PPE; respirator fit tests require clean shaven.

Responsibilities

• Carry out ongoing lab and field sampling; testing to meet specs.
• Assist with material control plans and documentation.
• Perform service and calibration of lab and field testing equipment.
• Update QC/QA databases and provide report summaries.
• Learn basic operations of cement, asphalt, or aggregate plants.
• Provide troubleshooting guidance for internal and external customers.
• Technical material performance support for all plants in the region.
• Recommend plant changes to ensure conformance and consistency.
• Assist Plant Superintendents and Managers as required.
• Work with minimal supervision; 20–30% without direct supervision.
• Promote safety culture and adhere to health, safety and environmental policies.
