Job summary

Sanmina Fremont, located in California’s Silicon Valley, seeks a Materials Planner to translate engineering requirements and customer orders into actionable production schedules. You will synchronize materials, labor, and machinery to meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities include maintaining master production schedules, preventing bottlenecks, and coordinating with Engineering and QA to integrate ECOs into runs without delays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 2-3 years of experience in production planning or manufacturing.
• 2-3 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros).
• Experience with NC/Laser and press-brake capability.
• Understanding of setup sheets for punching, laser-cutting, and forming.

• Develop and maintain master production schedules (MPS) using ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
• Analyze plant capacity and labor availability to prevent bottlenecks.
• Incorporate ECOs into active production runs without disrupting lead times.
• Monitor raw materials and sub-assemblies to ensure Just-in-Time availability.
• Provide real-time WIP updates to project managers and stakeholders.
• Identify inefficiencies and drive Lean/Six Sigma to reduce waste and cycle time.

The Sanmina Fremont facility is a full-service enclosure systems solution manufacturing plant. Job Purpose

The Materials Planner is responsible for translating engineering requirements and customer orders into actionable production schedules. This role ensures that materials, labor, and machinery are synchronized to meet rigorous deadlines while maintaining high technical standards and cost efficiency.

Nature Of Duties

• Develop and maintain detailed master production schedules (MPS) using ERP/MRP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite).
• Analyze plant capacity and labor availability to prevent bottlenecks and ensure a smooth workflow through various technical work centers.
• Work closely with Engineering and Quality Assurance to incorporate Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) into active production runs without disrupting lead times.
• Monitor raw material levels and sub-assemblies to ensure "Just-in-Time" (JIT) availability, minimizing excess stock while preventing line-down situations.
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) and provide real-time updates to project managers and stakeholders regarding delivery timelines.
• Identify inefficiencies in the production cycle and implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste and cycle time.

Education And Experience Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in production planning or manufacturing.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in overall sheet metal fabrication.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros).
• Experience with NC/Laser and press-brake capability.
• Understanding of setup sheets for punching, laser-cutting, and forming.

Salary Range (annual): $80,000 - $97,000. Actual base pay within this range (determined at the offer stage) will be based on a candidate's years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, and skills, and is just one element of our total rewards package.
