Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a seasoned supply chain professional to oversee distribution, inventory control, and production scheduling in a manufacturing setting. You will lead forecasting, master production scheduling, and supplier coordination to ensure on‑time delivery and optimal inventory levels.

The role requires 5–7 years of purchasing/production control experience, supervisory skills, and strong knowledge of ERP systems and JD Edwards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field is required.
  • 5-7 years progressively responsible experience in purchasing, inventory control, materials management, production control and/or production scheduling management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Direct leadership experience of inventory control, materials, or production control team preferred.
  • Experience leading multiple projects/programs of varying complexity and scope.
  • Experience working cross‑functional teams.
  • Experience with strategic planning and implementation required.
  • Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of intermediate level ERP System experience preferred.
  • Experience with JD Edwards preferred.
  • APICS (e.g., CPIM, CPSM) or other manufacturing/operations certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and oversee distribution, inventory control, materials management, production control and scheduling, and/or warehouse/storage functions.
  • Support and lead forecasting and releasing direct materials, including master production schedule oversight.
  • Plan and manage short‑ and long‑range inventory plans.
  • Oversee short‑ and long‑term production plans and schedules.
  • Monitor and audit inventory control, production control and scheduling, and warehouse functions.
  • Provide alternate plans in case of unforeseen contingencies.
  • Analyze and evaluate production capacities and plans.
  • Establish and approve budgets for material control and handling.
  • Monitor and release purchase orders and manufacturing lead‑times.
  • Track incoming orders, production rates, backlog, and expediting requests.
  • Prepare Master Production Schedule for production and materials.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing personnel on production operations.
  • Coordinate supplier releases to meet schedules.
  • Verify capacity when customer demands change or new parts are quoted.
  • Enforce process, supplier quality, and ISO compliance.
  • Suggest improvements to reduce costs, improve quality, or increase efficiency.
  • Participate in lean initiatives including 5S, Kaizens, and Value Stream Mapping.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supervising and providing oversight to distribution, inventory control, materials management, production control and scheduling, and/or warehouse/storage functions
  • Support and lead the areas of forecasting and releasing direct materials including overseeing the preparation of the master production schedule
  • Plans and manages the preparation and implementation of short‑ and long‑range inventory plans
  • Oversees the preparation and implementation of short‑ and long‑term production plans and schedules
  • Monitors and performs periodic audits on all phases of inventory control, production control and scheduling, and/or warehouse functions
  • Provides for alternate plans in the event of unforeseen contingencies
  • Analyzes and evaluates production capacities and plans
  • Establishes and recommends approval of expense budgets for material control and material handling sections
  • Monitors manufacturing and material schedules, purchase order releases, and quote manufacturing lead‑times
  • Manages/ tracks incoming orders, production rates, backlog, and expedite requests
  • Oversees and prepares the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for production and materials
  • Collaborates with manufacturing personnel on production operations
  • Coordinates supplier releases for all component suppliers to meet manufacturing schedules
  • Verifies capacity when there are changes to customer demands or new parts being quoted
  • Enforces process and procedural compliance in terms and conditions, supplier quality, and ISO
  • Suggests improvements or alternate methods to reduce manufacturing costs, improve product quality, or improve production efficiency
  • Participates in lean initiatives including 5S, Kaizens, Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or relevant field required
