Job summary

Sika Corporation is seeking a Materials Manager for its Marion, Kentucky production facility. The role focuses on planning to ensure material and service availability, establishing and monitoring production schedules, and leading production planners.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the Sika SAFE Program.
  • Member of the Site Leadership Team.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment per policy.
  • Display leadership in advancing Sika SAFE culture toward zero injuries.
  • Forecast planning and scheduling based on trends with department and sales managers.
  • Oversee production planners, schedule priorities, and provide escalation support.
  • Oversee purchasing to ensure material supplies and uninterrupted manufacturing.
  • Coordinate with Receiving and Plant Logistics for optimal material flow and inventory accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot between manufacturing, quality control, purchasing and logistics to resolve discrepancies.
  • Satisfy on-time shipping with optimal inventory investment and conduct physical inventories.
  • Ensure timely turnover of materials and develop action plans to minimize obsolete material.
  • Oversee workflow processes for plant material movement.
  • Perform other work as required by Director, Operations.

Job Description

Broad Function and Purpose of Position:

The primary function of the Materials Manager is to accomplish the planning process to ensure that adequate supplies of materials and services are available to support the Marion production facility and to establish and monitor production schedules for the facility to meet customer requirements along with inventory targets. The Material Manager will supervise Production Planners. The Material Manager will also manage the inventory control function to achieve the goal of on-time shipping, product availability, inventory control, and drive department efficiencies to maximize resources and streamline costs.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the Sika SAFE Program.
  • Active member of the Site Leadership Team.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment in accordance with the Sika Housekeeping policy.
  • Display active leadership in advancing the Sika SAFE culture in Marion pursuing the objectives of zero injuries and Employee engagement.
  • Strategic planning with department and sales managers and to ensure appropriate forecasting of planning and scheduling based on trends.
  • Oversee production planners, schedule priorities, provide assistance for escalated issues, and general leadership.
  • Oversee purchasing team to ensure adequate supplies of raw materials, packaging, and other supplies to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing while maintaining inventory targets.
  • Work with Receiving and Plant Logistics to ensure optimum material flow and maximum productivity; maintain highest level of inventory control and accuracy.
  • Act as a troubleshooter between manufacturing, quality control, purchasing and logistics to resolve discrepancies, determine priorities, and in general expedite the flow of materials based on production schedule requirements.
  • Satisfy customer on-time shipping requirements with optimal inventory investment; maintain inventory controls and levels to conform to budgets and forecasts while optimizing customer service levels; perform physical inventories.
  • Ensure timely turnover of materials and develop action plans to minimize obsolete material.
  • Oversee workflow processes for plant material movement.
  • Perform other work and projects as required by the Director, Operations.
Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Education:BS degree in Business Management or other related field required.
  • Years Experience: 5+ years experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution center environment. Direct experience with materials and inventory control.
