Siemens Energy, Inc. seeks a Materials Laboratory Manager in the United States to lead a multidisciplinary team supporting gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and related components.
You will oversee testing, characterization, and failure analysis while coordinating with Engineering, Manufacturing, R&D, and Service groups. The role requires 8+ years in materials engineering and leadership experience, with strong knowledge of metallic materials and failure investigations.
As the Materials Laboratory Manager, you'll lead a team of engineers, materials specialists, and technicians supporting some of the world's most advanced power generation equipment. From investigating material failures to advancing testing capabilities, you'll play a critical role in helping improve the reliability and performance of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and related components.
Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Service, and global materials experts, you'll help solve complex technical challenges while driving a culture of safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary materials laboratory team.
Manage laboratory operations, priorities, resources, and testing activities.
Oversee material characterization, metallurgical investigations, mechanical testing, and failure analysis efforts.
Support Engineering, Manufacturing, R&D, and Service teams in resolving material-related challenges.
Drive root cause investigations and provide technical recommendations to improve product reliability.
Advance laboratory capabilities through process improvements, equipment upgrades, and new testing methods.
Manage laboratory budgets, maintenance activities, and strategic investments.
Partner with Siemens Energy's global laboratory network to share expertise and best practices.
Foster a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and customer focus.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
8+ years of experience in materials engineering, laboratory operations, testing or failure analysis.
Leadership experience in an engineering, laboratory, manufacturing, or testing environment.
Strong technical understanding of metallic materials, material characterization, mechanical testing, and failure investigations.
Experience leading cross-functional technical projects and collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated success driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and team development.
Experience in power generation, turbomachinery, aerospace, or a similar industrial environment highly preferred.
Ability to travel approximately 10-15% domestically and internationally.
