Job summary

Terracon in Austin, TX is seeking a field/lab technician to perform testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt. You will collect samples, record results, and report findings to the Project Manager.

Under close supervision you will learn basic testing techniques, maintain equipment, ensure safety on site, and support dispatch of technicians.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• A valid driver's license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel).
• Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor's representative and others regarding requirements and results.
• Transport material samples with identifying documentation to the laboratory for testing and analysis.
• Prepare and submit data and observation in written and digital reports for daily transmission to the Terracon Project Manager.
• Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas; assist with scheduling and dispatch as needed; adhere to safety standards.
