Job summary

Alaska Communications is seeking a Materials Management Specialist in Anchorage to manage mail, inventory, and shipments across office, warehouse, and yard environments. Responsibilities include stock control, order processing, and coordinating repairs and returns while ensuring compliance with Hazmat regulations.

Qualifications include an associate’s degree and 1 year in inventory/purchasing or equivalent experience, with forklift, IATA, and a valid Alaska license.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree and one year experience in inventory control, warehousing, purchasing, or shipping. May substitute with a GED/HS diploma plus three years general office experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of warehouse procedures and telephone equipment with three years of warehouse experience operating under a computerized inventory control system. At least two years in a telecom/warehouse setting.
  • Anchorage MMS II requires a Medical Card and drug/background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, date stamp, and route incoming mail and packages for the company.
  • Sort and prepare outgoing mail and shipments for pickup or delivery.
  • Prepare documents for special handling or overnight delivery.
  • Drive company vehicles to deliver or pick up materials.
  • Reproduce materials using reprographic equipment and manage inventory records.
  • Monitor master calendar for the Distribution team and advise on conflicts.
  • Order and maintain inventory; expedite shipments and resolve vendor issues.
  • Source and purchase materials using PCC or bids; reconcile PCC statements.
  • Set up material master in inventory systems and perform electronic updates.
  • Process repairs and returns for equipment; manage RA requests and shipping docs.
  • Conduct monthly/yearly physical inventories and prepare variance reports.
  • Track requisitions and purchase orders; obtain freight quotes and audit invoices.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and receive materials from carriers.
