Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. in Wichita, Kansas, is seeking a Utility Worker to support loading and unloading of raw materials and finished products, and to maintain plant and equipment cleanliness.

You will operate production machinery, assist operators, transfer materials by hand or forklift, perform quality checks, and help ensure safety standards across shifts in a fast-paced plant environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be at least 18 years old with clean MVR.

Responsibilities

• Loads and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Operates machinery used in production process or assist machine operators.
• Places products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting and wrapping.
• Examines products to verify conformance to quality standards.
• Starts machines or equipment to begin production processes.
• Observes equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected, and notify operators, supervisor or maintenance of any malfunctions.
• Removes products or waste material from machines.
• Lifts raw materials, finished products and packed items, manually.
• Transfers finished product or raw material between storage and work areas of plant by hand or using forklift.
• Packs and stores materials and products.
• Marks and tags products.
• Disposes materials into machine hoppers prior to mixing.
• Mixes ingredients according to specified procedures or formulas.
• Required to know, implement and delegate FSMS responsibilities as required.
• Uses high pressure hose to wash parking lot, plant equipment, and surrounding areas of plant including spilled material on lot.
• Paints and washes plant equipment and building fixtures as necessary.
• Required to use standard hand tools (hammer, screw driver, wrenches, etc.) and power tools (drills, impact drivers, saws, etc.).
• Operates company vehicles around plant and property.
• Ensures steady flow of raw material from trailers to dock in safe and efficient manner.
• Checks and reports condition of raw material load and truck interior.
• Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
• Other duties as assigned
