Job summary

Custom Truck One Source is seeking a Materials Expeditor to support on-site material movement and inventory at our Lynchburg, VA location. You will transport assembly pieces around the production site, work with aerial and heavy equipment, and help ensure timely, safe handling of materials.

The role requires learning orientation, reliable attendance, and the ability to operate or assist with cranes, forklifts, and processing machinery in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• Team-oriented and collaborative with CTOS teammates.
• Attention to detail to ensure work is correct the first time.
• Ability to understand and read blueprints is preferred.
• Knowledge of fabrication metals and identification.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, store, and distribute company material and equipment.
• Move material to designated storage area.
• Ensure material is stored properly to prevent spoilage or waste.
• Assist in inventory taking and keep organized records.
• Clean up shop and maintain inventory.
• Prepare customer orders for shipment and fulfillment.
• Operate heavy equipment including cranes, forklifts, and processing machinery.
• Perform other related duties to ensure efficient workflow.

Summary

The Materials Expeditor will be responsible transporting equipment assembly pieces around the production site. Position will be working with aerial, construction equipment, and heavy & light duty trucks. He/she must be willing to learn and having a strong attendance record.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Load, unload, store, and distribute company material and equipment.
• Move material to designated storage area.
• Ensure material is properly and safely stored to prevent spoilage or waste.
• Assist in inventory taking.
• Cleaning up shop and keeping inventory
• Filling and preparing customer orders for shipment.
• Operatingheavy equipment includingcranes, forklifts, and processing machinery.
• Performing other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Positive attitude and works in collaboration with other CTOS team members to get projects complete.
• Attention to detail and quality standards to get it done right the first time.
• Understanding and reading of blueprints preferred.
• Possess knowledge of and ability to identify fabrication industry metals.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work well with team members.
• Strong orientation towards quality, safety and continual improvement.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Have a current Driver’s License.
• Have good and reliable transportation.
• Work in a fast-paced industrial environment wearing hearing and vision protection, steel-toed shoes/boots and other appropriate protective clothing.

Working Conditions

• Majority of work is performed in a shop and outside
• Must be able to work while exposed to bright lights, extreme temperatures, loud noise, dust, gas and/or other fumes
• Must be able to work overtime as needed

Physical Requirements

• Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing on ladders and platforms of heights above 42”, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling throughout a 10-hour day, and up to 50 hours per week
• Must be able to safely operate carts, forklifts, hand trucks, and other equipment of such nature
• Ability to walk and stand on concrete and/or uneven surfaces for at least 10 hours per day
