Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate timely delivery and allocation of materials to production pods; maintain stock levels.
  • Lead cross-departmental efforts to streamline material transfer and storage; resolve bottlenecks.
  • Validate and reconcile complex inbound material transfers per requirements.
  • Oversee regular cycle counts and advanced inventory reconciliation tasks.
  • Analyze inventory discrepancies; troubleshoot with production, procurement and warehouse teams.
  • Implement advanced inventory control measures; ensure SOP and state regulation compliance.
  • Collaborate with production on material forecasting to meet current and future needs.
  • Track and evaluate production waste; propose process improvements and waste reduction strategies.
  • Communicate material usage trends, waste patterns, and improvements to management.
  • Maintain KPI data on material usage, waste and efficiency; generate advanced reports.

Job Summary:

The Materials Coordinator II plays a more advanced and strategic role compared to the Materials Coordinator I, taking on additional responsibilities related to the coordination and optimization of material flow within the production environment. This role ensures the timely and efficient movement, tracking, and documentation of materials while working closely with multiple departments. The Materials Coordinator II provides oversight on more complex tasks such as process improvements, advanced inventory analysis, and leading small projects. In addition, this role actively collaborates on inventory strategy, material forecasting, and waste reduction initiatives to ensure that production processes run seamlessly.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate the timely delivery and allocation of materials to production pods, ensuring stock levels are maintained for optimal production flow.
  • Lead cross-departmental efforts to streamline material transfer and storage, identifying and resolving bottlenecks in material handling.
  • Validate and reconcile complex inbound material transfers, ensuring compliance with production requirements and specifications.
  • Oversee regular cycle counts and manage more advanced inventory reconciliation tasks.
  • Conduct deeper analysis on inventory discrepancies, collaborating with production, procurement, and warehouse teams to troubleshoot issues and resolve inconsistencies.
  • Implement and monitor advanced inventory control measures, ensuring compliance with both internal SOPs and state regulations regarding raw material management.
  • Collaborate with production leaders on material forecasting, ensuring that necessary stock is available for current and future production needs.
  • Track and evaluate production waste metrics, providing recommendations for process improvements and waste reduction strategies.
  • Communicate regularly with management regarding material usage trends, waste patterns, and potential improvements for future production cycles.
  • Maintain detailed data on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for material usage, waste, and efficiency, producing advanced reports for senior management.
  • Analyze data to recommend improvements to inventory and material handling processes, including suggestions for automation or process optimization.
  • Mentor and train junior Material Coordinators on material handling best practices, proper documentation, and software utilization.
  • Assist in developing new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for material tracking, handling, and reporting to optimize operational efficiency and accuracy.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Expertise in maintaining accuracy and consistency in material handling and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and train junior staff.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP, WMS, and other advanced inventory tracking software; proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Advanced ability to identify complex discrepancies in inventory and material usage and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of collaborating across departments and providing clear, data-driven reports to management.
  • Deep understanding of state regulations related to material management and internal processes for process optimization.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in inventory control or material coordination, with a focus on process improvements and advanced reporting responsibilities.
  • Experience with ERP, WMS, or other inventory management systems is required.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Experience leading small projects or training teams is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Capable of repetitive hand and arm motions as well as extended periods of typing.
  • Capable of looking at a screen for extended periods or entire shifts.
  • Some travel may be required to attend cross-functional team meetings or support product launch events.
Work Schedule (Non-Exempt):

This position is scheduled on a full-time basis. Specific shift times and workdays are determined by the operation and may vary by location. Business needs may require work on evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional overtime. Scheduled start and end times, assigned shifts, and workdays are subject to change based on staffing and operational requirements. Whenever feasible, advance notice of schedule changes will be provided.
