Job summary

Great Dane LLC is seeking a Materials Coordinator to manage material flow within the plant. The role requires verifying inventory balances at POU, staging, and warehouse locations to meet planning targets and coordinating with forklift drivers to move material as needed.

The position involves data input in JDE, RFGen, and other planning tools, reading blueprints and production schedules, and performing forklift duties. Strong English communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • Education: GED or high school diploma preferred.
  • Experience in heavy assembly work preferred.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Ability to perform data entry and basic computer tasks.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and use measuring tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates issues with material and inventory variances and suggests solutions.
  • Posts and maintains material planning and NCM files.
  • Prioritizes inventory moves to support uninterrupted production.
  • Identify locations for material placement by forklift driver.
  • Perform 5S in areas of responsibility.
  • Return to stock material no longer needed.
  • Coordinate delivery of material with forklift drivers.
  • Assist Cycle Counters in counting lineside material.
  • Facilitate and coordinate the NCM process for respective areas.

The Position: An Materials Coordinator coordinates material flow in the plant by verifying materials inventory balances at POU (point of use), stage, & warehouse locations are sufficient to meet material planning targets. Facilitates inventory move prioritization with forklift drivers to support material targets at all locations of the plant. Data input of part numbers and data research skills to find and update status of parts in JDE, RFGen, and other plant Supply Chain planning tools. Able to read blueprints and production schedules. Able to drive a forklift to move bundles & crates around for ease of staging. Communicates material shortages immediately to cross-functional team. Facilitates the NCM process daily.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

  • Investigates issues with material and inventory variances. Recommends possible solutions, resolutions, etc.

  • Posts and maintains material planning & NCM files.

  • Prioritizes inventory moves to effectively support uninterrupted production.

  • Identify locations where material should be placed by forklift driver.

  • Perform 5S in areas of responsibility.

  • Return to stock material that is no longer needed.

  • Prepare information about what material is needed where and when and at what quantity.

  • Coordinate delivery of material with forklift drivers.

  • Assist Cycle Counters in counting lineside material.

  • Facilitate and coordinate NCM process for respective areas.

Qualifications

Your Skills & Abilities (QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS):

  • Education: GED or high school diploma is preferred.

  • Experience: Prior experience in heavy assembly work is preferred.

  • Must be able to perform work with little supervision.

  • May be asked to assist in the training of new employees.

  • Forklift certification required.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure - whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

  • Must possess computer/data entry skills.

  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure and other measuring tools.

  • Ability to work with hands and to work in mechanically oriented situations following supervisor’s instruction.

  • Aptitude to learn and retain new information.

  • Ability to follow instructions, given either verbally or in writing.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Plant environment.

  • Keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, walking.

  • Ability to do heavy lifting (up to 50 pounds) multiple times daily in an 8 to 12 hour shift.

  • Ability to maneuver large parts and assemblies (up to 180 pounds) by pushing, pulling and flipping them into place.

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
