Job summary

Boston Centerless LLC in Woburn, MA is seeking a Materials Buyer to join our manufacturing team. You will manage purchasing of bar stock, raw materials and supplies, negotiate prices, and work to reduce material costs while maintaining strong supplier relationships.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in business management, has experience in manufacturing and sourcing, and is proficient with MS Excel and ISO/Lean practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with business management focus.
• Prior experience in manufacturing, materials management, sourcing, and inventory control.
• Working knowledge of metals products related to the business.
• MS Office Suite, especially Excel; familiarity with ISO and Lean practices.
• Project management, planning, and resource allocation experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage the purchasing of raw materials to meet the buying strategy.
• Work with suppliers to establish lead times, expedite delivery, and tier pricing.
• Maintain supplier performance data including delivery, lead time, and certifications.
• Detail-oriented daily updates of inventory and purchasing data, order status, and delivery information.
• Collaborate with team to achieve sales metrics and profitability goals.

The Materials Buyer will be responsible for ordering and maintaining bar stock, raw materials, and supplies; working diligently to identify and explore opportunities that will reduce material costs through price negotiations and sourcing. What You’ll Need To Be Successful:

• A bachelor’s degree with a business management focus


• Prior work experience in manufacturing, materials management, sourcing, and inventory control


• Working knowledge of the metals industry and specific products related to the business.


• Expertise in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and familiarity with ISO and Lean manufacturing practices


• Project management, planning, and resource allocation experience


• And most importantly, enjoys coming to work, being part of a team, and getting “stuff” done.
