Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Gulfport, MS is seeking a Material Specialist (STEEL) to determine materials needed for job assignments, locate them, and coordinate transportation to work areas. You will work with warehouse staff to ensure material availability, address backorders, and maintain precise documentation of material receipt and movement.

The role requires ensuring material accuracy, tracking backorders, and performing regular inventories to support shipyard operations.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and shipyard terminology.
• Ability to work effectively with warehouse personnel and other team members.
• Prior shipbuilding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

The Material Specialist is responsible for utilizing software tools to determine the materials required for job assignments, locating those materials, and coordinating their transportation to the work area. This role involves working closely with warehouse personnel to ensure material availability, addressing backorders, and maintaining accurate documentation for material receipt and movement.

Required Experience & Training

• Previous experience in shipbuilding, particularly in engineering or craft-related fields.
