Job summary

Phibro Animal Health Corporation is seeking a Material Scientist at our US Quincy, IL site to support multiple units with analytical method development and product quality. This role develops methodologies, conducts experiments, and ensures regulatory and ISO 17025 standards are met.

The successful candidate will collaborate across quality, plant, and regulatory functions, perform data analysis, and author technical documents for marketing and technical support.

Qualifications

  • Degree in analytical chemistry or related science field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in inorganic and organic chemistry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Use chemical and physical science expertise to select analytical technologies and techniques to characterize organic and inorganic materials.
  • Develop analytical methodologies and application testing for products.
  • Use statistical software to support process optimization, ingredient and finished product quality control.
  • Investigate, modify, and correct laboratory procedures or processes associated with out-of-specification assay results.
  • Collaborate with plant, quality, regulatory, marketing, and sales functions to support product commercialization.
  • Support day-to-day analysis for product release and new ingredient approval.
  • Assist with compliance activities for new ingredients/supplier qualification.
  • Support ISO 17025 laboratory activities.
  • Provide quality assurance and quality control support for manufacturing projects and process optimization.
  • Author technical documents for marketing and technical support.
  • Provide technical support to chemists or technicians working on related projects.
  • Complete special projects and other duties assigned.

The Material Scientist is an integral part of our Quality team based out of our US - Quincy, IL - South Plant site.

Compensation range for this position is $65,000.00 - $75,000.00

Position Summary

The Material Scientist supports multiple business units and laboratories within Phibro Animal Health by providing technical expertise to drive product development and help ensure the ongoing quality and performance of products. This role develops analytical methodology to support research and development efforts and participates in the planning and execution of research and development projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use chemical and physical science expertise to select appropriate analytical technologies and techniques to characterize organic and inorganic materials.
  • Develop analytical methodologies and application testing for products.
  • Use statistical software to support process optimization, ingredient and finished product quality control.
  • Investigate, modify, and correct laboratory procedures or processes associated with out-of-specification assay results.
  • Collaborate with plant, quality, regulatory, marketing, and sales functions to support product commercialization.
  • Support day-to-day analysis for product release and new ingredient approval.
  • Assist with compliance activities for new ingredients/supplier qualification.

Competencies
Technical / Operational
  • Demonstrated skill in analytical method development, troubleshooting, and problem solving.
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as ICP-OES, ICP-MS, XRD, XRF, UV-VIS, FT-IR, GC-MS, HPLC, and near IR is preferred.
  • Proficiency with statistical software and its application to process improvement.
  • Strong project management, data analysis, and technical writing skills.
  • Coding knowledge is preferred.

  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-functional team.
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
