Compass Systems
The Material Science Technologist provides subject matter expertise in the use and application of pretreatments, organic, and inorganic coatings for aerospace materials. Supports the Research and Development of composites, adhesives, sealants and other non-metallic materials for use on DoD aircraft. Evaluates and performs corrosion testing of aerospace coating systems and materials to include salt fog and immersion testing that simulates the corrosion effects of the Navy's aircraft carrier environment. Provides guidance to resolve material characterization, processing, fabrication, manufacturing problems and unexpected failures of components and/or materials. Provides direct interaction with vendors at their research and production facilities as well as conducts laboratory experimentation. Addresses other Materials Laboratory duties as assigned.
