TEKsystems in Richland, MI seeks a detail-oriented Material Purchasing Assistant to support daily purchasing operations, manage purchase orders, and maintain supplier communications in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This 6-month contract offers a firm hourly rate of $31.25 with comprehensive benefits, on-site work, and potential extension or conversion. Bachelor's degree required or near completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or near completion within six months.
• Strong experience with purchase order management.
• Experience coordinating with suppliers and internal teams.
• Proficient in ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders based on system demands, requisitions, and planner requirements.
• Confirm supplier receipt of purchase orders and obtain order acknowledgments.
• Monitor and follow up on open purchase orders, delivery schedules, and past-due materials.
• Update purchase order information including dates, quantities, pricing, and delivery details in the ERP system.
• Expedite materials as necessary to support production, inventory, and customer requirements.
• Communicate material availability, supplier updates, and delivery risks to planning, operations, customer service, and purchasing teams.
• Assist in resolving invoice discrepancies involving pricing, quantities, receipts, and purchase orders.
• Partner with Receiving, Accounts Payable, Planning, and Suppliers to resolve transactional issues.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier correspondence, and order documentation.
• Support shortage reviews, open-order reporting, and routine purchasing activities.
• Escalate supplier performance concerns, supply constraints, contractual issues, and pricing challenges to purchasing leadership as needed.
