Job summary

Trane Technologies seeks a proactive Procurement/Materials planner with strong supplier management and change management experience. You will lead material project teams, coordinate BOS initiatives, and ensure efficient procurement and inventory for production lines.

Qualifications include a BA/BS with 10+ years in planning/buying in manufacturing, APICS CPIM preferred, and proficiency with ERP and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with extensive planner/buyer experience in manufacturing.
  • APICS CPIM certification preferred or equivalent.
  • Experience with ERP and supplier scheduling in a manufacturing setting.
  • Understanding of Kanban and JIT systems is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support material project teams including change management activities.
  • Coordinate implementation of BOS and PFEP-related initiatives on the production floor.
  • Perform timely procurement of production/inventory/MRO items and analyze requisitions.
  • Maintain ABC classification for planning and ensure optimal inventory levels.

Where is the work: On-Site (5 days)
What’s in it for you:
  • Lead and provide support to material project teams resulting in change management activities within NPD, VAVE, Materials Functional Projects, Productivity, etc as assigned.
  • Assist in the execution of change management projects and process improvements from the design/scoping phase through launch.
  • In addition, coordinate implementation of initiatives and solutions as governed by the BOS (Business Operating System) and/or plant materials strategies.
  • Assist in the set-up of new items on the factory floor for material flow, material infrastructure.
What you will do:
  • Perform timely, cost-conscious procurement of production/inventory/MRO items.
  • Receive and analyze requisitions to determine quantity, specifications and delivery requirements.
  • Develop and on-boarding of new selected suppliers relative to material planning.
  • Ensure up-to-date ABC classification is maintained for planning, and other key inputs into the PFEP process.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels and safety stock are maintained for their parts.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues with suppliers.
  • Identify total cost and cash flow opportunities with suppliers.
  • Analyze and select parts for KanBan and Supplier replenishment.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and elevate to Procurement when issues occur.
  • Maintains PFEP and item master information based upon process improvements, current constraints, total current demand by product family, and priority information.
  • Develop solutions during change management programs for delivery of required parts to and from production areas (WHM, Supermarket, Tugger delivery routes).
  • Implement visual management systems (6S, standard work, WMS locations, etc) in support of assigned change management projects.
  • Support change management project teams to develop project deliverables, resources required, detailed implementation actions, and launch containment plans.
  • Ensure compliance to BOS (Business Operating System) and standard work during change management phases and recommend modifications where needed.
  • Ensure compliance to safety regulations and procedures are implemented during project phase.
  • Provide training to material operators as assigned during launch transition phase.
  • Develop supplier capabilities and assist in supplier set ups and transitions.
  • Manage PIV fleet requirements and needs.
  • Implement manufacturing technologies such as RFID, pick to light, VGV (vision guided vehicles), automation.
  • Coach and drive projects that improve all aspects of the materials organization.

  • Maintain basic knowledge of supplier processes and capabilities.
  • Understand special test/witness certification requirements and actions to achieve certification.
  • Understanding of Kanban and JIT systems.
  • Able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Must possess a strong customer service orientation and must provide dedicated support of internal and external customer requirements.
  • Must be a strong written and verbal communicator, able to communicate to various audiences effectively.
  • Team oriented, must have the ability to work cohesively with others.

  • Must possess ability to work well in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented and self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of computerized integrated information systems (manufacturing, materials management, production planning, procurement and distribution).
  • Must be focused on bottom line results.
  • Must be a proactive change agent and possess leadership skills to build and maintain a team oriented environment while leveraging lean methodologies.
  • Must be a flexible, decisive and proactive problem solver.
  • Must be able to work well in high pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a strong communicator.
  • Must be able to influence external suppliers to achieve fulfillment objectives.
  • Must possess a strong customer service orientation and must provide dedicated support of internal customer requirements.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, with ability to work on multiple priorities at once.
  • Must be proficient at conflict resolution.
What you will bring:
  • BA/BS degree or 10+ years minimum planner/buyer manufacturing experience.
  • APICS (CPIM) or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Considerable knowledge of industry related supply base and materials.
  • Skilled in production and supplier scheduling.
  • Knowledgeable of supplier processes and capabilities.
  • Able to provide direction and training to peers as needed.
  • Computer proficient with ERP and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Experience with rate based or flow line (non-MRP) and job shop manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with visual management systems.
Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:
