Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Senior Materials Manager to lead the materials program across projects in the DHO Kiewit Supply Network. You will oversee planning, procurement, receiving, storage, issuance, tracking, and delivery to support safe, efficient project execution.

The role partners with construction, procurement, logistics, and field operations; you will drive inventory accuracy, develop materials management plans, and mentor teams while promoting safety and operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in materials management or related disciplines.
  • Experience managing materials programs on large projects (industrial, EPC).
  • Strong knowledge of material planning, warehouse operations and logistics.
  • Ability to lead teams and collaborate across functions.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the overall project materials program from startup through closeout.
  • Serve as primary contact for site materials management and material concerns.
  • Lead project mobilization and demobilization for materials operations.
  • Develop materials management plans, staffing strategies, and warehouse plans.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Construction, Project Controls, Engineering, Logistics, and PM.
  • Oversee receiving, warehousing, inventory control, preservation, issuance, and surplus management.
  • Monitor material status and identify risks that could impact schedules.
  • Ensure tracking and reporting of material deliveries, inventory levels, shortages, and critical material requirements.
  • Lead materials status meetings and communicate readiness to stakeholders.
  • Mentor materials personnel and promote safety and operational excellence.

Position Overview

The Materials Manager is responsible for leading and managing the overall materials program for assigned projects, ensuring materials are planned, procured, received, stored, issued, tracked, and delivered to support safe and efficient project execution. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all site materials management activities and acts as the conduit between construction, project management, procurement, logistics, suppliers, and field operations.

The Materials Manager provides leadership to site materials teams, establishes and maintains materials management processes, drives inventory accuracy, and ensures material availability aligns with project schedules and construction priorities. This individual effectively collaborates across all levels of the organization, develops team members through coaching and accountability, and leads project mobilization and demobilization efforts for materials management operations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall project materials program from project startup through closeout.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all site materials management activities and construction-related material concerns.
  • Lead project mobilization and demobilization activities for materials management operations.
  • Develop project materials management plans, procedures, staffing strategies, and warehouse operations plans.
  • Coordinate closely with Procurement, Construction, Project Controls, Engineering, Logistics, and Project Management to ensure material requirements are understood and executed.
  • Oversee material receiving, warehousing, inventory control, preservation, issuance, and surplus material management activities.
  • Monitor material status and proactively identify risks that could impact project schedules or field productivity.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of material deliveries, inventory levels, shortages, and critical material requirements.
  • Lead materials status meetings and communicate material readiness to project stakeholders.
  • Manage warehouse operations and field material teams to ensure safe, organized, and efficient work execution.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, and project teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory accuracy, warehouse efficiency, and material availability.
  • Resolve complex materials-related issues and provide recommendations to project leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and project requirements.
  • Develop, mentor, and empower materials personnel through coaching, accountability, and leadership.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, ownership, and operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Business, Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in materials management, supply chain, logistics, procurement, warehousing, inventory management, or related disciplines.
  • Experience managing materials programs on large industrial, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, transportation, or EPC projects.
  • Strong understanding of materials planning, inventory control, warehouse operations, logistics coordination, and field material management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and effectively collaborate across multiple functional groups.
  • Experience supporting project mobilization and demobilization activities.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze material data, identify risks, and implement corrective actions.
  • Experience utilizing ERP systems, inventory management systems, and materials tracking tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across project teams.
  • Willingness to travel or relocate based on project needs.
