Job description

Major Responsibilities:

• Acts as a resource to employees, which includes training/orienting, providing day-to-day work direction, and giving input on performance. Assigns, monitors, and reviews progress and accuracy of work, directs efforts and provides guidance on more complex issues. Assists with human resource responsibilities, which may include: interviewing and selection of new employees, staff development, providing performance feedback, resolution of employee concerns, and employee morale.
• Monitors general department operations, prepares and maintains schedules, records essential information and ensures that work is completed in a timely manner. Assigns staff to appropriate training components and conducts daily checks on employee staffing and makes adjustments/substitutes as necessary.
• Provides for the timely distribution of all supplies and equipment in response to issue requisitions, customer requests, defined replenishment schedules and purchase orders. Maintains efficient and accurate record-keeping systems to verify receipt, storage and distribution of materials.
• Maintains an accurate and up to date materials ordering procedure to establish a delivery system that best serves the patient care area. Oversees and maintains the inventory and distribution process of medical supplies. Takes periodic cycle inventories and stock rotation checks, prepares corrections and reports to ensure the accuracy of the inventory system.
• Ensures the proper stocking, placement and security of supplies and equipment. Ensures proper preparation, packaging, initiation of return, and any required follow-up of returned materials to vendors as instructed by appropriate documentation.
• Prepares, distributes and transports supplies and equipment for safe and appropriate distribution within the facility, departments, or other entities.
• Ensures that areas are kept clean, orderly, and secure in order to physically protect the inventory and safety of employees.
• Establishes a follow-up program to monitor the effectiveness of the supply system to assure that needs are being met.
• Operates within the annual supply and/or capital equipment budget to meet the needs and objectives of the organization.
• Works closely with Corporate Purchasing to resolve delivery challenges including back orders, missing deliveries, and differences in quantities.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• A valid drivers license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.

Education Required:

• High School Graduate.

Experience Required:

• Typically requires 5 years of experience in inventory control, warehousing, purchasing, and materials management with a thorough knowledge of material handling systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Ability to lead and guide a group of employees.
• Must have strong organization and communication skills.
• Excellent service and time management skills. Effectively work with employees to ensure supplies are delivered on time.
• Ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel in the organization as well as with various suppliers and vendors.
• Computer skills and basic typing skills are required. Basic knowledge of Windows applications, including Excel and Word.
• Ability to operate a hand-held computerizes PAR supply replenishment system.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, have ability to lift, bend, squat and twist the majority of the workday and crawl, kneel and climb throughout.
• Must be able to:
• lift up to 15 lbs from floor to overhead.
• lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
• lift and carry up to 50 lbs at waist height a reasonable distance.
• Must be able to:
• push/pull with 20 lbs of force.
• Will be exposed to various weather conditions when checking in supplies and deliveries.
• Will be exposed to chemical, mechanical, electrical and explosive hazards and therefore protective clothing must be worn as needed.
• Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
