Georg Fischer Central Plastics LLC is seeking a Materials Handling Supervisor to lead warehouse operations, ensure safety, quality and inventory accuracy, and coordinate with production schedules. You will set daily and weekly team objectives, coach staff, hire and onboard, and work with logistics and ERP systems (SAP) to optimize material movements.

Lean initiatives and 6S will be part of your ongoing improvement efforts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of supervising experience in material handling or shipping.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in logistics execution and transportation planning.
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP) and Microsoft Office.

Job description

The Material Handling Supervisor is responsible for the safety, quality and daily operations for the warehouse and material handling organization including EHS compliance, process improvement and inventory management for the shipping and material handling functions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for setting daily, weekly, monthly objectives for team.
  • Work directly with operations and logistic management and supply chain teams to ensure timely and accurate material movements to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Monitor employee output and engagement, overseeing and coaching team members, training new employees and support resolution of logistical operation constraints.
  • Responsible to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Set goals with each direct and indirect report that is based on the annual goals developed by the logistics plan.
  • Assist with the interviewing and hiring process of warehouse and shipping employees.
  • Ensure that logistics team members are meeting or exceeding the material movement and inventory accuracy goals on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure that all issues related to any type of equipment and/or tools are documented and submitted to the appropriate people.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing initiatives including a 6S system throughout the warehouse area.
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHAS 18001 certification requirements.
  • Support and manage the Cost Reduction effort to continually reduce product manufacturing costs.
  • Participate and support all improvement methods used to improve logistics and operations.
  • Initiate and maintain periodic reporting to upper Management on various metrics and KPIs.
  • Interact and manage transfer and shipping orders within ERP and Process Weaver system.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Must have a good understanding of logistics, operations, team behavior and management.
  • A forward and long-range strategic thinker capable of looking out for 2 years to plan for long-term complex projects to improve the company.
  • Good communications skills with a key to listening, striving to be viewed as a person who treats all people with respect and fairness.
  • A clear understanding of how your decisions affect the company’s stability and profitability.
  • Knowledge and expertise in SAP or similar ERP system.
  • Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
Education and Experience:
  • Supervising experience or at least 5 years' experience in an integrated material handling or shipping environment, having proficiency in all aspects of warehouse operations.
  • Minimum 2 years' leadership experience in logistics execution and transportation planning.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
  • Typical factory environment with exposure to heat in production areas.
  • Hearing, sight and foot protection required.
  • Capable of viewing computer information for extended times.
  • Able to walk, stretch, bend, stoop, squat and twist repeatedly during a shift without assistance.
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity required with fine motor skills.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions, blueprints communicate clearly to various levels of personnel and coworkers.
