Job summary

Ryerson in Illinois is seeking a Service Center Operator C to handle day-to-day staging, packing, and picking of material for shipments using proper equipment. The role includes operating forklifts, completing SAP work orders, and ensuring accurate paperwork.

Onboarded through a registered apprenticeship, you will meet skills-based assessment requirements, have basic computer skills, and demonstrate attention to detail, reading, math, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Must pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
• Minimum 1 year of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
• Physical ability to pass vision, hearing, and mobility requirements.
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Packaging of material to customer requirements.
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Completing SAP work orders and shipping/receiving paperwork.
• Maximizing productivity for finished goods creation.
• Other duties as assigned or updated.
