Job summary

ACCENT CONTROLS, INC. Milwaukee is seeking a Material Handling Laborer to support unloading, staging and shipping of MTE items in a fast-paced environment.

Under direct supervision, you will handle loading/unloading, storage staging, and basic data entry, using PPE and following safety procedures. The role includes tolerance for dirt and weather exposure and requires a valid state driver's license; a military license may be required.

Qualifications

  • Two years of work experience in general supply or logistics.
  • Ability to read and understand supply-related instructions, military regulations and publications.
  • Proficient data entry on computer forms; basic computer skills; knowledge of military logistics systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist unloading and staging MTE receipts/shipments for inspection.
  • Sort, band and wrap MTE for storage or shipment.
  • Stage outgoing MTE shipments and assist in loading for shipment.

Description

The non-exempt job classification is covered under The McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA) and the contract’s collective bargaining agreement (CBA). Service employees are compensated per the prevailing wage rates and fringe benefits that are set by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Wage and Hour Division's WDs 29 CFR Part 541 and 29 CFR 4.163(f), unless otherwise modified by a CBA between labor and management.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, performs physical tasks to transport or store MTE items or materials. Duties involve one or more of the following: manually loading or unloading freight cars, trucks, or other transporting devices; unpacking, or placing items in proper staging or storage locations; or transporting goods by hand truck or cart.

Essential Functions
  • Assists in unloading and staging MTE receipts/shipments for inspection.
  • Sorts, bands, and stretch wraps USPS MTE for storage or shipment.
  • Stages outgoing MTE shipments.
  • Assists in the loading of MTE for shipment.
Marginal Functions
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for conforming to all safe work practices and procedures to include Job Assessment Planning and Stop Work Authority.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, and other potential allergens.
  • Frequent, short duration (>30 min) exposure to the elements i.e. weather variations
  • Occasional, extended duration (<30 min) exposure to the elements i.e. weather variations
Position Requirements
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Frequent bending, standing, walking, sitting.
  • Ability to lift to 20 lbs.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer and peripherals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner with senior level staff and customers.
  • Follow established guidelines in performing day-to-day routine tasks as outlined in the SOW.
  • Use of appropriate PPE i.e. hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, steel toe shoes.
  • Use of appropriate hand tools i.e. hammer, screwdriver, pry bar, plyers, etc.
  • Perform general housekeeping functions for a safe work environment.
Qualifications

Experience: Two years of work experience with one year in the general supply field or logistics field. Desired: Advanced data entry experience.

Skills: Must be able to read and comprehend supply related instructions, military regulations, publications and apply requirements to job duties. Must be capable of entering data on computer forms and have basic computer skills Desired: Familiar with the Army or military Logistics Information Systems.

Certificate, License, Registration, etc.: Possess a valid state driver’s license and obtain a military driver’s license within 30 days. May be required to obtain a security clearance and/or a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).

Education

High school graduate or equivalent (GED). Possess the ability to read, write, and comprehend written instructions, perform common mathematical tasks, and communicate effectively.
