Job summary

Kirchner Building Centers in Illinois is seeking a reliable Material Handler/Yard Clerk to load materials, stage deliveries, and transport materials for orders.

The role requires a High School diploma, 1 year of experience, forklift operation skills, and strong customer service. Hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 5:00pm with potential overtime. Benefits include Health Insurance, 401(k), and paid time off.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in related field.
• Knowledge of building materials and construction industry preferred but not required.
• Valid driver's license (Class C preferred).
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, vendors and team members.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage inventory and maintain accurate records.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and forklift operation.

Responsibilities

• Load materials into customers’ vehicles or delivery vehicles.
• Accurately build loads and prepare materials for deliveries.
• Unload incoming freight and inspect for accuracy.
• Safely operate forklift per OSHA and company standards.
• Schedule deliveries and coordinate with customers.
• Maintain clean, organized lumberyard and storage areas.
• Provide exceptional customer service and address concerns.
• Build relationships with customers, vendors and team members.
• Collaborate with departments to keep operations running smoothly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
