Job summary

Leviton in Fuquay-Varina, NC is seeking a Material Handler to support shipping finished goods and maintain materials for production lines. The role involves stocking, loading/unloading freight, and operating warehouse equipment on weekdays, 9:00am–5:00pm.

The candidate will use RF scanners to move goods, package items properly, and conduct regular cycle counts while following safety guidelines and 5S standards.

Qualifications

• High School education or GED preferred.
• Minimum three (3) months material handling experience.
• Proficient in 1 warehouse function (cutting, shipping, material handling, shipping clerk).

Responsibilities

• Obtains and moves finished goods and materials with the use of a RF scanner.
• Identify and packages finished goods in the appropriate manner.
• Use warehouse packaging equipment as needed.

About the role

The Material Handler is responsible for shipping finished goods and maintaining materials that support our customers and production lines. Duties involve stocking, cutting, shipping and/or moving finish goods and materials/supplies. Operates material handling and warehouse equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Shift available:

Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Understanding of basic math skills – adding, subtracting and measuring
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written format
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Ability to use judgement related to identifying potential safety hazards

Physical Demands

• This position requires 20% clerical and planning and 80% material handling, warehouse equipment operations, and/or walking and assisting warehouse employees
• Work is primarily performed on the warehouse floor
• Eye and foot protection must be worn
• Lifting of weights up to 30 pounds may occur regularly, with a potential for lifting weights of up to 80 pounds on an occasional basis
• The physical demands of the position include climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and eye/hand/foot coordination
• May stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.

Education & Experience

• High School education or GED preferred.
