Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard in Prince George, VA is looking for a dedicated individual responsible for the efficient operation of waste disposal equipment within the manufacturing plant. This includes safely operating the baler and warehouse equipment while adhering to safety protocols.

Ideal candidates will have past manufacturing experience, preferably in the corrugated industry, along with forklift operation skills. Physical demands include regularly lifting up to 50 pounds and dealing with loud noise levels.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
  • Prior work experience as a forklift operator preferred.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of equipment design and production specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the baler following safety protocols.
  • Safely operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts.
  • Weigh and record bales and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist in maintenance of equipment and report repairs.

Summary

Responsible for the proper disposal of all waste materials and recyclable paper products throughout the printing facility, for all activities associated with safely running the baler including operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate the baler in an efficient manner following all safety protocols.
  • Safely operate standard warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Operate hogger and hog up all unusable paper and corrugated scrap.
  • Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
  • Weigh and record bales of product and keep accurate records of what is recycled.
  • Maintain inventories of bailing wire, wax, and no wax tags, and scrap bales.
  • Hand tied wax bales wires.
  • Assist in two man feeds as necessary.
  • Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.

  • Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to handle or feel.
  • Employee frequently is required to talk or hear.
  • Employee occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment
  • Employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Exposure to wet and humid conditions.
  • Exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Required to maintain a current Fork Lift Operator License.
