Job description

1st Shift, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM, Monday-Friday

Typical starting pay:

Material Handler I, $16.57/hr.-$20.00/hr.

Material Handler II, $18.39/hr.-$22.00/hr.

Material Handler at Radius HDD:

A freight shipping clerk's daily responsibilities typically include preparing and processing shipping documents, coordinating with carriers and suppliers, tracking shipments, verifying shipping accuracy, and ensuring timely delivery. They may also handle inventory updates, communicate with customers regarding shipment statuses, and maintain records of all shipping activities to ensure compliance and efficiency. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency with shipping software are essential for this role.

What Will You Do?
  1. Read information from various documents.
  2. Locate and identify parts in the warehouse.
  3. Use a forklift, Raymond, or hoist to move or deliver parts and containers.
  4. Count or use scales to weigh and count parts.
  5. Use a computer to check the location, inventory, and routing/ordering of parts.
  6. Perform routine service on forklifts, including filling the propane tank, checking and adding engine oil, cleaning the radiator, and washing the forklift.
What Do You Need?
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Material Handler I, 0-3 years of experience.
  • Material Handler II, 3 or more years of experience.
  • Prior forklift experience and/or certification preferred.
  • Strong reading, clerical, and basic math skills, including understanding written instructions, recording transactions accurately, and performing basic calculations.
Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature, humidity, noise, and dirt).
  • Limited outdoor exposure (while getting parts and filling forklift propane tank).
  • Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, overhead storage, and materials handling.
  • Working with hazardous materials, including LPG, solvents, oils, grease, acids, caustics, paints, and batteries.
  • Variable work schedule (ranging from 8-12 hours daily depending on production needs, with overtime paid after 40 hours per week) and some scheduled work on Saturdays.
  • Expectation to work at least 50% of the Extra Time (ET).
Essential Physical Functions:

The physical demands for this job are classified as medium and include the following:

  • Handling items weighing up to 60 pounds from floor to knuckle regularly.
  • Pulling or pushing items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Lifting items up to 35 pounds from knuckle to shoulder regularly.
  • Lifting items up to 25 pounds from shoulder to overhead regularly.
  • Frequent standing, sitting, bending, climbing, and elevated work.
  • Occasional twisting, squatting, and kneeling.
