Olympic Steel, Inc. is seeking a Material Handler to support production by moving WIP, staging finished goods, receiving raw materials and preparing paperwork. The role includes operating a forklift, using a handheld plasma and an acetylene torch, and working with overhead cranes and rigging as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Move work-in-progress material on the production floor.
• Stage finished goods and load trucks.
• Receive raw materials and prepare materials for production.
• Complete paperwork and perform related administrative tasks.
• Handle scrap parts and operate forklift, plasma cutter, and acetylene torch.
• Work with overhead cranes and rigging as required.

Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for all job tasks required to support production processes. The Material Handler is responsible for all job tasks required to support production processes. These activities may include movement of work-in-progress material on the production floor, finished goods staging, truck loading, raw material receiving and raw material and finished goods preparation and management. As the Material Handler you will be in charge of certain administrative work, as well as preparing paperwork for materials on the floor. As the Material Handler you will be responsible for handling the scrap parts, while operating a forklift, using handheld plasma, and using an acetylene torch. For this position there is also overhead crane usage (5 & 10 ton) as well as rigging.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience required.
• Acetylene torch and handheld plasma experience preferred.
• Proper use and care of precision instruments.
• Basic math skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to work under general supervision.
