Job summary

Snavely Forest Products in Kentucky is seeking a Material Handler to cut, move, and store a variety of materials in a warehouse and yard environment. The role requires maintaining forklift certification and adhering to safety guidelines while supporting inventory accuracy and timely deliveries.

Responsibilities include cutting to dimensions, loading/unloading, labeling, scanning, wrapping, cycle counting, and coordinating with team members to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Forklift experience in a warehouse or yard setting.
  • Follow policies and procedures for yard operations, inventory, safety.
  • Participate in safety training and use/maintain equipment properly.
  • Lead by example with knowledge of the area of expertise.
  • Strong communication and ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Verify quantity and quality of incoming/outgoing deliveries.
  • Label/Scan products and store accordingly.
  • Identify, pull, and wrap correct products per order.
  • Handle returns with documentation and communication.

  • Cycle counting and inventory issue identification.
  • Communicate issues like missing or damaged material.
  • Keep work areas neat and tidy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Description

As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for cutting, handling, moving, and storing various non-hazardous and hazardous materials within a warehouse and yard facility. The main duties will include, but are not limited to, cutting materials to specific dimensions, picking and packing materials, loading and unloading transport items, recording inventory statuses, and ensuring deliveries properly match purchase orders. You will maintain a current forklift certification and follow all company safety guidelines. This position requires patience and steadiness, along with a teamwork mentality.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Forklift experience
  • Cut product to specified dimensions for shipping
  • Verify the accuracy of the quantity and quality of incoming and outgoing deliveries
  • Label/Scan every product and put it away accordingly
  • Identify, pull, and wrap the correct products per the customer order
  • Handle returns by completing documentation and other required communication
  • Keep all material handling equipment in the best condition by conducting regular maintenance and logs
  • Cycle counting and identifying any inventory issues
  • Communicating issues, including missing or damaged material, as well as material that may have been pulled or received incorrectly.
  • Keep work areas neat and tidy
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Forklift Experience
  • Follow all policies and procedures in the yard, including sales, inventory, and safety
  • Participate in safety training
  • Properly use and maintain equipment
  • Lead by example, with first-hand knowledge of the area of expertise
  • Work well in a group setting
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously
Qualifications:
  • Experience with chainsaw use and safety procedures
  • Forklift certification
  • Knowledge of operating other warehouse machinery
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Critical thinking skills to quickly solve issues and/or problems
  • Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines
Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds as needed throughout the day

Operating equipment outdoors in variety of weather

Climb, kneel, reach, or bend throughout the day

Must wear safety gear, such as goggles and gloves, while performing work

Ability to operate all equipment on site as necessary

Able to withstand environmental temperatures. (Winter, Summer temps)
