Job summary

Horstman Inc. is seeking a Material Handler / Inventory Specialist to ensure accurate receiving, storage, handling and distribution of materials within the Sterling Heights facility.

Responsibilities include cycle counts, inventory tracking, forklift operation, and collaboration with purchasing and production to maintain material availability while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years in material handling or inventory management.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Basic computer skills; familiarity with ERP software a plus.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The Material Handler / Inventory Specialist is responsible for the accurate receiving, storage, handling, and distribution of materials and inventory within the facility. This role ensures materials are properly tracked, stocked, and delivered to support production, maintenance, and operational needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials, parts, and supplies.
• Prepare and complete material orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule.
• Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, audits, and system updates.
• Store materials in designated locations following organizational and safety guidelines.
• Move materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, or other warehouse equipment.
• Track inventory levels and report shortages, discrepancies, or damaged items.
• Issue materials to production teams and record transactions accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
• Assist with shipping, packaging, and labeling outbound materials.
• Coordinate with purchasing, operations, and production to ensure material availability.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
