Job summary

Mohawk Industries is seeking a packaging and material-handling associate for the 1st shift in Calhoun, GA. The role involves packaging, labeling, loading products for internal departments or customers, and recording quality metrics.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Certification for powered lift truck operation preferred; ability to obtain certification.
• Completion of on-job training programs.
• Required health and environmental safety training.
• May use PC and department databases.
• Reads/writes English and performs basic math.
• Prior warehouse or general labor experience preferred.
• Able to work well in a team; good communication skills.
• Follow simple verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Package, label, and load products for delivery to internal departments or customers.
• Record quality and output measures and complete related paperwork.
• Check material for defects before packaging and weigh finished products.
• Collect finished product and pre-pack at wrap/banding/bagging stations.
• Load packaged material onto pallets and secure for transport.
• Pull and stage materials to meet production demands.
• Apply labels to packaged carpet pad rolls and place sleeves on rolls.
• Operate related production equipment safely.
• Maintain tidy work area and follow safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as required.

1st Shift 3 am - 11 am

Job responsibilities

• Packaging, labeling, and loading products for delivery to internal departments and/or customers;
• Recording quality and output measures and completing other paperwork;
• Checks material for defects before beginning the packaging process and weighs finished products to ensure high-quality products are delivered to internal departments and/or customers.
• Collects finished product and pre-packs it at a wrap/banding/bagging station.
• Manually loads packaged material onto pallets, skids, and boxes, and secures material or products for transport to designated areas.
• Pulls and stages materials as required to meet production demands.
• Place sleeve on vacuumed rolls to complete the final packaging of the product.
• Place proper labeling on packaged carpet pad rolls.
• Operates related production equipment in a safe manner.
• Records quality and output measures, and completes any other necessary paperwork.
• Performs general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalency is preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Ability to obtain certification for operation of powered lift truck and operate safely.
• Successful completion of on-job training programs.
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
• May be required to use PC and other department-specific database systems.
• Reads and writes in standard English and is proficient in performing basic math calculations such as addition and subtraction.
• Prior experience in a warehouse or as a general laborer preferred.
• Must be an effective team member.
• Good oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with others in the immediate work unit and related support areas.
• Ability to follow simple verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Working conditions include hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, and noise.
• Requires standing more than 2/3 of the time.
• Requires regular lifting between 60-80 lbs.
