Job summary

Veolia is seeking a hazardous waste laborer in the United States to perform routine waste handling tasks in processing areas, including loading/unloading containers and maintaining safety practices.

Responsibilities include following procedures, operating equipment, and assisting with paperwork, with a focus on efficiency and compliance. This position may require forklift experience and adherence to PPE requirements.

Job Description

Position Purpose:

Responsible for performing a variety of routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks in the movement and processing of various waste in various container size/type. Tasks could include: Follow procedures & direction, perform manual labor, proper usage of PPE, operate mobile equipment (manual and powered), operate fixed / stationary equipment, loading & unloading containers, perform equipment inspections, identification of various container size/type, scanning container movements, consolidation of containers & material, staging containers in designated area, recognize markings & labels. Tasks will be performed on a daily basis in the designated processing area as assigned by Leads & Supervisors in order to meet processing objectives for material disposal.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Has mastered all four components (CSB/ADA, TRB, Bulk Ramp and TSDF) and can work in any area while maintaining operational efficiency.
• Requires minimal direct supervision.
• Understand and follow procedures & processes.
• Recognize various container size & type.
• Recognize labels & markings.
• Understand and follow procedures & processes.
• Ability to utilize systems to create processing paperwork or labels.
• Load and unload various size containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers. etc.) using mechanical or manual means.
• Construct boxes and/or fiber containers and stacks, labels, and loads containers.
• Use a variety of tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, jackhammers, etc.
• Transport hazardous waste materials from storage facilities within the facility as directed.
• Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and/or containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
• Assist in completing all necessary paperwork for processing materials to include transportation of materials to and from various locations.
• Perform general housekeeping duties.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
• Inspection material handling equipment as directed.
• Assist in the loading/unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment for which you are appropriately trained.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• 9 to 12 months general labor experience.
• Forklift experience preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to communicate through reading and writing.
• Trained in the use of material handling equipment.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

• 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred.

Additional Information

Pay Range:$21.00 to $22.00 per hour.
