Job summary

First Solar, Inc. is seeking a Material Handler I to safely handle materials in our warehouse and shipping dock.

Responsibilities include receiving, storing, cycle counting, and distributing materials, tools, and products while ensuring accurate Oracle transactions for goods receipts and issuances. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, forklift experience, and familiarity with warehouse management software.

Qualifications

  • Requires High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year sit-down forklift experience in last 4 years.
  • 6+ months warehouse/material handling experience preferred.
  • Must be an Experienced Industrial Equipment Operator.
  • Possess and maintain valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Follow safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks per safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with EH&S policies and regulations.
  • Deliver materials to production areas or outgoing shipments on time.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on handling equipment.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Participate in SWATs and support shipping/receiving requirements.
  • Pack and ship products safely and correctly per procedures.
  • Follow C-TPAT rules and guidelines.
  • Move materials internally and load/unload vehicles as needed.
  • Ensure outbound shipments maintain pallet integrity.
  • Perform daily/weekly cycle counts and investigate variances.
  • Inspect equipment daily (racks, forklifts, batteries).
  • Perform Oracle transactions for goods receipts and issuances.
  • Collaborate with supporting departments on inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain clear communication and foster teamwork.
  • Support 5S housekeeping and safety compliance.
  • May function as courier and use hand tools as needed.
  • Perform other duties including assisting in Production.

Basic Job Functions
  • Material Handler I is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of materials in the warehouse and/or shipping dock environment. This role involves receiving, storing, cycle counting, and distributing materials, tools, equipment, and products within the establishment. Material Handler I ensures that the right products are delivered to the right location on time and in good condition, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of the supply chain. Engages in packaging, loading, unloading, storing, and transporting materials and products by performing the described duties. Ensures the correct Oracle transactions are performed for goods receipts and item issuances out of inventory.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1 year of sit-down forklift experience being primary function within the past 4 years
  • 6+ months of experience in a warehouse or material handling role is preferred
  • Experienced Industrial Equipment Operator
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Required Skills/Competencies
  • Basic mathematical and organizational skills
  • Experienced computer knowledge. Microsoft Office knowledge a plus
  • Ability to use warehouse management software and inventory systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Previous experience with shipping/receiving documents
  • Previous experience with RF scanners is needed
Essential Responsibilities
  • Follow all company safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
  • Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks in compliance with safety standards
  • Ensure compliance with company EH&S policies and procedures as well as local and federal regulations
  • Ensure timely delivery of materials to designated production areas or outgoing shipments
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on material handling equipment
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the supervisor
  • Participates in SWATs
  • Performs all shipping/receiving requirements, including product packaging and shipping as directed and in a safe manner
  • Follows the rules and regulations of C-TPAT
  • Operates Material Handling Equipment; loads and unloads vehicles as well as internal movement of material
  • Executes outbound shipments of finished goods from manufacturing facility to offsite warehouse ensuring the quality and integrity of the pallet remains intact
  • Performs daily/weekly cycle inventory counts and assists in the investigation of any inventory variances
  • Performs daily equipment inspection including racks, forklifts, battery, and any equipment moved by the forklift
  • Performs Oracle transactions for goods receipts and items issuances out of inventory
  • Works with supporting departments on investigating any inventory/receipts discrepancies
  • Maintains effective communications levels and fosters team building in and outside the department
  • Supports 5S program by practicing good housekeeping and in accordance with all safety procedures
  • Able to function as a courier
  • Able to use hand tools such as nail guns, air hose, etc.
  • Performs other assignments as required, including assisting in Production and other departments when necessary

  • This position reports the Supervisor, Traffic/Material Handling
Travel
  • No travel requirements.
Estimated Salary Range
  • $18.00 / Hourly
US Physical Requirements
  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs or steps on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 37 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye separately and both eyes (with or without correction), the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green and peripheral vision >70 degrees is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel‑toed shoes, cut‑resistant gloves, jackets, aprons & arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) as a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).
  • Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) Operation (i.e. Forklifts, Carts or vehicles with a motor, etc.)
  • Any position with an essential function of PIV operation requires 20/40 vision in each eye separately and both eyes (with or without correction), the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green and peripheral vision >70 degrees.
