Under the direction of the Department Supervisor/Inventory Manager, the Material Handler is responsible for the safe movement of all material in the manufacturing warehouse and for ensuring physical and systematic movements are executed whenever material or parts change location.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the movement of assembled parts and products to the next step operation.
- Perform picking and pulling transactions via scanner.
- Unload, receive, and store raw materials and supplies.
- Work with Accounting/Shipping to resolve shipping and receiving discrepancies.
- Verify that materials are received in accordance with packing slips and purchase orders.
- Consolidate and organize stocked materials and create space for incoming materials.
- Advise inventory personnel on items missing identification.
- Follow safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Maintain equipment and work areas; clean and perform basic repairs as needed.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications
- Basic arithmetic skills.
- Knowledge of personal computers.
- Minimum one year of experience using RF scanners.
- Minimum one year of experience operating stand‑up/sit‑down forklifts, electrical pallet jacks, and cherry pickers.
- Ability to lift or move sheets of metal, felt, and other material.
- Communication and people skills; team player willing to learn.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, wearing required PPE, in dusty or hot conditions, with stairs, frequent walking, standing, and lifting.
- Ability to work off‑shift hours in support of plant initiatives.
- Demonstrated proficiency in operating stand‑up forklift, electrical pallet jack, cherry picker, and sit‑down forklift.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Regularly stand, walk, and may sit for extended periods.
- Regularly use hand‑eye coordination, grasp, manipulate, and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions.
- Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift objects over 100 pounds using mechanical equipment.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must work in various weather and temperature conditions, including extreme heat, humidity, and cold.
Work Environment
- Office Environment – operating with standard office equipment; no PPE required.
- Plant Environment – operating in manufacturing setting with extreme temperature, uneven surfaces, loud noises, dust. PPE required: hard hats, safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, fall protection.
Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED (required).
- Minimum two years of experience driving forklifts and material handling in a manufacturing environment.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- CalOSHA 10 (preferred).
- OSHA forklift certification (preferred).
- CPR & first aid certification (preferred).
