Job summary

GE HealthCare in Salt Lake City is seeking a Material Handler I to coordinate movement of raw materials, parts and finished goods. You will monitor inventory, input data into the material management system, and ensure sufficient materials to meet production schedules.

The role involves working closely with purchasing, production and warehousing teams. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma and forklift experience, with strong basic math and computer skills, plus the ability to lift up

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior forklift experience and use of weight scales preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in the local language.
  • Basic math skills and computer literacy are required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform root cause analysis, document non-conforming materials and make recommendations.
  • Move materials between areas using handcarts or forklifts.
  • Receive/issue material requisitions and verify cycles counts.
  • Process materials against POs and WOs in the material management system.
  • Coordinate with warehousing for replenishment and storage needs.
  • Collaborate with logistics and production to resolve part shortages.
  • Maintain documentation for recording, allocating and dispersing regulated materials.
  • Conduct cycle audits and physical inventory per schedule.
  • Assist in training new hires and ensure compliance with EHS & Quality policies.
  • Follow work instructions and bills of materials; support special projects as needed.

Job Description Summary

The Material Handler I coordinates the transfer of raw materials, parts, and finished products between the source and final destination. Monitors material requirements and tracks movement with purchasing, production, and warehouses. Ensures material inventory levels are sufficient to meet production schedules or inventory requirements. Inputs data into a system or database to produce reporting and demand estimates. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. At our Salt Lake City site, engineering, research, and manufacturing teams come together to design and build surgical imaging technologies — including advanced C-arm imaging systems that support image-guided procedures for clinicians across the globe. The work here contributes to the precision and capability clinicians bring into the OR every day.

Job Description Essential Responsibilities
  • Performs root cause analysis, make recommendations and document non-conforming materials.
  • Perform physical movement of materials from one area to another using handcarts or forklifts.
  • Physically and systemically receive/issue individual material requisitions from internal and external departments Quantifies and verifies cycle count.
  • Process material against purchase orders and work orders using electronic material management system.
  • Coordinate with on-site and/or off-site warehousing facilities for parts replenishment and material for storage.
  • Work with appropriate logistics and production personnel to resolve/prevent part shortages.
  • Maintains/reviews critical documentation necessary for recording, allocating and dispersing a variety of regulated materials.
  • Perform cycle audits and physical inventory per schedule.
  • Help reconcile inventory discrepancies and report discrepancies to Supervisor.
  • May assist in training new hires.
  • Comply with EHS & Quality System regulations and policies.
  • Read and follow work instructions and bills of materials.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school Diploma/GED or local equivalent.
  • Prior experience using a forklift and weight scales.
  • Demonstrate ability to read, write and speak in local language.
  • Proficient in basic mathematics.
  • Ability to communicate well and work with others.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be able to Lift and carry up to 35 lbs. (floor to waist, waist to crown level, and horizontally) alone anything over requires assistance.
  • Must be able to perform frequent simple grasping, firm grasping, fine manipulation, neck rotation, and neck flexion throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to twist, push/pull, reach at, above and below shoulder height frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend and squat frequently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to stand/walk continuously throughout the day.
  • Must be able to ascend/descend/balance frequently on portable stairs for small parts retrieval.
