Job summary

Orca Bio Sacramento is hiring for a Day Shift Material Handler to support cell therapy production. You will handle, inspect, store and ship materials, manage inventory and kit production, and assist with donor cells and cryopreservation tasks in a GMP environment.

The role requires high school diploma or GED with preferred AS degree; experience in material management and cleanroom protocols is valued. Expect overtime and on-site work at Sacramento facilities.

Job description

Material Handler - Day Shift

ensures the efficient handling, storage and distribution of pharmaceutical materials and products for Orca’s cell therapy products, ensuring adherence to strict quality standards and regulatory requirements. This position involves executing processes related to warehouse materials and inventory, kitting materials for production use and managing the movement, intake and shipping of drug products and samples.

Day Shift Hours Worked

• 6:00am to 6:30pm or
• 6:30am to 7:00pm

Work Week Schedule

• Sunday, Monday, Tuesday + every other Wednesday

Physical Demands

• Production Associate Roles : Must have visual acuity of 20/20 (corrected or uncorrected) and normal color vision to safely perform critical tasks such as visual inspection of materials, equipment, and labeling, including distinguishing color-coded components in a GMP environment.
• Must be able to meet cleanroom gowning requirements, including wearing full gowning (face coverings, gloves, hoods, goggles) for extended periods, as needed. Use of cosmetics (makeup, painted nails), jewelry, or facial piercings is not permitted in the cleanroom, and any skin conditions that cause shedding must be disclosed.

Work Conditions

• Must be able to work at either Orca Bio Sacramento location (3400 Business Dr. or 7910 Metro Air Pkwy) based on operational needs.
• Must be comfortable regularly participating in video-based meetings.
• May be required to work scheduled overtime, weekends, or holidays based on business needs.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect and verify incoming materials against orders and documentation
• Ensure materials are moved and stored in their correct locations
• Maintain accurate inventory records, perform cycle counts, and manage material expiration
• Prepare consumable materials kits for use in production
• Movement and transfer of materials including drug products and samples from production
• Maintenance of consumable gowning stock across various facility locations
• Receipt and incoming donor cells and shipment of patient drug productions
• Execution of cold storage practices and cryopreservation of drug products when needed

Minimum Experience, Education, Certifications, Licenses

• Minimum of high school diploma or GED
• A.S. degree is preferred, but not required
• Experience with material management systems
• Experience in warehouse operations and material movements
• Cell and gene therapy knowledge is beneficial

$23 - $26 an hour

The anticipated annual salary range for this job is based on prior experience in the role/industry, education, location, internal equity, and other job-related factors as permitted by law. For remote-based positions, this range may vary based on your local market. Full-time employment positions will also be eligible to receive pre-IPO equity and annual bonus, in addition to competitive medical, dental, and vision benefits, PTO, 401(k) plan, life and accidental death and disability coverage, and parental leave benefits. Other perks include subsidized daily lunches and snacks at our on-site locations.
