Job summary

BlueLinx Corporation is seeking a Material Handler/Forklift Operator for our distribution center in Charleston, SC. The role features a fixed wage of $21.20 per hour and a $3,000 sign-on bonus, with a Monday–Friday schedule and a strong emphasis on safety and quality service.

You will operate forklifts, load/unload materials, and handle paperwork for shipping. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k) with match, tuition reimbursement, life insurance, PTO, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift in compliance with safety guidelines.

What You’ll Do

• Operate forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load/unload/store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material (piece pick and/or bulk)
• Prepare the paperwork required for distribution and shipping of products.
• Performs daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working and assigned area.
• Assists in periodic inventory counts as requested.

What We’re Looking For

• One year or recent forklift/warehouse experience
• Ability to proficiently and safely use forklift to transport products, load/unload trucks
• Ability to understand and follow directions
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure
• Ability to handle physical tasks, such as lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to read/comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, etc.
• Safe work record and stable work history

The pay rate provided is a good faith estimate based on the position requirements and market data. Actual compensation will depend on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations.
