Job summary

Chalfant Manufacturing in Avon, OH is seeking a Warehouse/Material Handler to support manufacturing by transporting, organizing, and managing materials from receipt to shipping.

Responsibilities include loading/unloading, ERP transactions, BIN transfers, inventory control, and cycle counts to keep physical and system inventory in sync. Requires forklift experience and HS diploma.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required for warehouse operations.
• 1–2 years of experience in warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material handling.
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload materials to storage areas and vehicles, ensuring no damage.
• Shrink wrap and band materials to prevent shifting during transport.
• Move finished materials to shipping or storage areas as required.
• Stage materials for cutting, punching, bending, and welding per schedule.
• Mark parts with IDs, packing lists, and bills of lading.
• Print and manage shipping/receiving paperwork.
• Inspect and count incoming/outgoing materials; verify against documents.
• Receive and track materials in the ERP; ensure accurate data entry.
• Execute BIN transfers in the ERP and maintain accurate BIN locations.
• Support cycle counts and report inventory variances promptly.
• Ensure materials follow FIFO and correct inventory flow.
• Identify and report inventory discrepancies or system issues.

Job Summary/Purpose:

To support manufacturing operations by transporting, organizing, and managing materials—from raw inputs to finished goods—while ensuring accurate execution of inventory transactions and alignment between physical and system inventory to support efficient production and warehouse operations.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

• Load and unload materials to and from designated storage areas (e.g., racks, shelves) and vehicles (e.g., trucks), ensuring materials are handled safely and without damage.
• Shrink wrap and band materials to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
• Maintain the flow of finished materials to designated shipping or storage areas.
• Stage materials for cutting, punching, bending, and welding operations based on production schedules/work orders.
• Mark all parts with proper identification, including packing lists and bills of lading.
• Create and attach identifying tags and labels to materials as required.
• Print and manage all required paperwork for shipping and receiving.
• Visually inspect and count all incoming and outgoing materials.
• Verify items and quantities against shipping and receiving documents.
• Receive and track materials using the ERP system.
• Ensure accurate data entry and inventory updates.
• Execute BIN transfers in ERP system, ensuring accurate movement of materials between locations in both system and physical warehouse.
• Maintain accurate inventory locations (BINs) and ensure all material movements are reflected in the system in real time.
• Verify system vs. physical inventory before and after material movements.
• Support and perform cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and report inventory variances.
• Ensure all materials are stored in correct, assigned BIN locations following standard procedures.
• Follow FIFO and material flow requirements where applicable.
• Identify and report inventory discrepancies, incorrect locations, or system issues to supervision.

Required Qualifications/Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1-2 year of experience in warehouse operations and material handling or shipping/receiving
• Experience with operating forklifts, pallet jacks and other material handling equipment

Preferred Qualification:

• Ability to execute ERP transactions (material movements, BIN transfers, receiving, shipping)
• Understanding of warehouse location systems and BIN structures.
• Strong data accuracy and inventory control mindset.
• Ability to reconcile physical vs system inventory discrepancies.
• Basic understanding of inventory processes (cycle counts, FIFO, stock accuracy.
• Ability to execute ERP transactions (material movements, BIN transfers, receiving, shipping).

Technology and Equipment:

• Basic computer skills and experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage).
• Ability to perform inventory transactions, including BIN transfers, in ERP systems.
• Familiarity with warehouse location systems and inventory tracking tools.
• Experience with or ability to learn RF scanners.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs regularly
• Comfortable standing, bending, and moving for extended periods
• Seasonal changes in temperature
• Personal Protective Equipment is required
