Job summary

Olympic Steel in Gary, IN is seeking a Material Handler to support production processes on the floor. You will move work-in-progress material, assist with finished goods staging, and help with raw material receiving and preparation.

You may also handle scrap parts and operate a forklift, handheld plasma, and other warehouse equipment. The role includes some administrative tasks and workload that requires basic math and careful paperwork preparation to keep materials flowing efficiently.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience not required but preferred.
• Proper use and care of precision instruments.
• Basic math skills.
• Self-motivated with ability to work under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Move work-in-progress material on the production floor and assist with finished goods staging.
• Load trucks and assist with raw material receiving and preparation.
• Prepare paperwork for materials on the floor and manage related administrative tasks.
• Handle scrap parts and operate forklift, handheld plasma, and other warehouse equipment.

Job Description

The material handler is responsible for all job tasks required to support production processes. The material handler is responsible for all job tasks required to support production processes. These activities may include movement of work-in-progress material on the production floor, finished goods staging, truck loading, raw material receiving and raw material and finished goods preparation and management. As the material handler you will be in charge of certain administrative work, as well as preparing paperwork for materials on the floor. As the Material Handler you will be responsible for handling the scrap parts, while operating a forklift, using handheld plasma, and other warehouse equipment.
