Goodwill Industries of Lane and South Coast Counties in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Material Handler 2 to efficiently load, unload and move donated goods within the warehouse and retail support areas. You will help maintain a safe, organized workspace and support donation flows.
Required six months of related experience with forklift certification; responsibilities include operating equipment, assisting donors, and ensuring accurate handling of donations in a fast-paced environment.

Understand and positively promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Goodwill Industries. Accept donated goods from members of the public and provide excellent customer service. Efficiently and safely load and unload trucks or trailers. Responsible for accurately sorting, stocking, processing or disposing of product or material and helping to maintain organization in the warehouse and assigned areas; this includes, but is not limited to, donated goods, recycled materials, salvage materials, garbage, and hazardous materials. Operate a forklift as needed. Material Handler 2 at a location not solely serviced from the central warehouse, may be required to operate a box truck on a regular, but limited basis. Currently, this is only at Goodwill’s North Bend location.

Keep supervisor informed of problems and suggestions related to the job. Offer helpful, innovative suggestions to improve processes within this or other departments. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be forklift certified. May be required to possess a valid Oregon or Alaska driver’s license days and have an insurable driving record. For locations requiring occasionally box truck driving, must be able pass and maintain DOT drug screening and non-DOT medical certification. Knowledge of safe lifting techniques. Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of oneself, others or to property. Exercise good judgment. Must provide current, state issued identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America. Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug-screening test. Record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior may disqualify you.
EXPERIENCE At least six months’ related experience required including forklift certification and use of forklift in a warehouse or similar setting. Hazardous material training desirable.
EDUCATION No minimum education requirement.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION Must be forklift certified. For locations requiring box truck driving, must possess a valid Oregon/Alaska driver's license and insurable driving record. HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain within 30 days. Ability to pass respirator fitness test upon hire.
DOT Strength classification: Heavy. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Able to lift/carry heavy, awkward objects. Able to do heavy lifting, frequently stand, walk, carry, push, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, grasp, kneel and climb. Specific vision requirement includes distance vison, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Indoor and outdoor working conditions with exposure to all weather. Moderate adaptability required. Work environment is mostly hectic (fast paced) with irregular short deadlines and limited number of critical or unusual situations. May be exposed to dust if working in a warehouse setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. May include driving hazards as a driver of company vehicles and or equipment.
Must be able to work all hours of operations and/or all hours and days the retail store is open. Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
